WME have recently completed the design for Aldar’s latest Boutique Residential development “Reflection” on Reem Island, Abu Dhabi.
The “Reflection” project is a new boutique residential development on Reem Island. WME were appointed by Lead Architect, Perkins + Will, and provided full MEP, AV/IT, Structural, Fire and Life Safety, Roads, TIS, Sustainability, Waste, Acoustics, Facade and Vertical Transportation engineering services. The project is designed to meet Abu Dhabi’s Estidama sustainability regulations, specifically the Pearl 1 rating.
Reflection consists of two towers offering 374 homes (182 & 192 apartments in the two towers). Each tower consists of one localised basement level, ground level including retail offerings, four podium car parking levels, an amenities and pool deck, along with 19 residential floors for one Tower and 20 residential floors for the other Tower.
The project design was developed in careful coordination with the surrounding plots and utility connection points. To minimise costly modifications being required to construct each tower, the design proposals were carefully planned to respect, and connect into, the existing utility tie-in points to each tower plot. The internal MEP distribution strategies and wider design solutions were developed cooperatively with the entire design team and client stakeholders, with the ultimate goal of producing an efficient, sustainable, cost effective and holistic building, being achieved in the final design.
Construction is expected to commence in 2018 with a target date of completion of 2021.
