Dubai Festival City Mall expansion : first phase opens
Opening this week in Dubai is the first phase of a Dhs1.2 billion expansion of Dubai Festival City Mall, designed by HOK Architects for the Al Futtaim Group, with structural engineering by WME.
The focus of the mall expansion is Festival Square — the expanded main atrium, opened up and extended to the re-landscaped waterfront. Twenty-five new high-profile retail stores are opening at the same time. A new 3,500 sq m food court provides 24 food outlets is also being launched, along with Dubai’s only free supervised play area for children.
This project is known as Project Salsa Phase 2, Dubai Festival City Mall expansion. WME provided structural engineering design and supervision services. The full expansion programme will be completed by the end of the year and will include 65 more retail units.
