WME is celebrating its 10th anniversary of engineering excellence within the UAE this month. Over the past decade the company has grown from a single local office to seven locations across three continents. Group Managing Director, Peyman Mohajer, gives us his thoughts as he looks back over the last 10 years.
“A decade ago as the big engineering consultancies were adding to their core competencies and expanding rapidly, there was a space for a boutique consultancy driven by passion for engineering that was able to innovate, take decisions quickly and offer clients added value with a personal touch.”
“WME has its focus on providing engineering solutions for the built environment, working on exciting projects like the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2020, Fountain Views in Downtown Dubai, W Hotel Abu Dhabi and DIFC Gate Avenue. However, that’s only part of our story. From day one, we have been building and nurturing relationships with our clients and peers, providing opportunities for staff, and growing the company from a single office in 2011 to a globally recognized engineering consultancy with nearly 500 employees on three continents. Along the way, we’ve kept true to our core values and our ethics.”
“Sustainability has always been important to us as engineers, and we’ve been striving to reduce greenhouse gases and embodied carbon in our projects for some time. However, with the recent IPCC (United Nations) code red warning, we recognize the urgency to do more. With this in mind, we have committed to reduce and offset all remaining greenhouse gas emissions by 2023 to achieve ‘net zero carbon’ status under World Green Building Council Net Zero Carbon Building Commitment.”
“It’s not always been plain sailing, and we’ve had to take some tough decisions, particularly in the last 18 months. But thanks to the resilience and hard work of our staff, we look towards 2022 with hope and optimism. We’re not only surviving but thriving. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has played a part in WME’s journey over the last decade, whether that be clients, peers, friends or colleagues. We would not find ourselves where we are today without you. It’s been a throughly enjoyable journey and here’s to the next ten years!”
