WME has been working in collaboration with Caukin Studio to assist the “Ardagh Young Creatives 2022″ programme at the Design Museum which supports young people from underprivileged backgrounds to gain pathways into the design.
The programme involves mentoring and advising students aged between 14 to 16 to undertake and construct a physical structure from a concept right through to the physical construction of the design.
The Ardagh Young Creatives 2022 wanted to design a physical outside space where the public could relax and find positivity within a tranquil environment, and they decided upon a picnic bench-style of structure.
WME’s London Structural Engineering Team provided their support by ensuring the design was structurally viable, enabling the young people to bring their ideas to life, utilising lightweight materials.
The temporary timber picnic bench structure has now been constructed and currently sits directly outside the Design Museum for use by the public and visitors to the museum.
