
Simon is an experienced Director in MEP design & delivery and a qualified electrical building services engineer with over 25 years of experience in the construction industry. With a strong working knowledge of Building Services Engineering, and his up-to-date knowledge of building standards and practices, Simon brings a well-rounded expertise to each undertaking with strong leadership and project management experience. His work has taken him across the United Kingdom, as well as to the Middle East, and he has been involved in projects across many sectors, including healthcare; education; aviation; and sports arenas.
In addition to being a proven senior electrical design engineer, he is also a mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEP) design and delivery manager. Simon is a motivated, determined, and effective team leader and problem solver, and he endeavours to bring out the strengths of his colleagues. He strives to deliver all projects on time and on the budget to the highest standards, whilst ensuring adherence to building codes, standards, and regulations. Whether he is in the boardroom with clients, liaising with architects and structural engineers, overseeing mechanical and electrical teams and technicians, working remotely with other teams, or on-site working with subcontractors and construction crews, Simon’s experience, mastery of his field, and professionalism ensure that he is a valued member of the team.
Having gained experience in both the public and private sectors, Simon is able to take an idea from initial inception through to the final handover whilst managing all aspects of the project, including tenders and commissions, client and contractor relations, and final client approval. He provides fully co-ordinated designs, and he has ample experience preparing detailed, full-electrical designs and calculations including, but not limited to: fire; power distribution; lighting; ICT; security systems; and integrating specialist subcontractor design packages. Simon’s aptitude for innovative and creative solutions has also ensured that he has been sought out for salvage operations. His exacting standards, excellent assessment skills, design and development capabilities, installation and implementation oversight, communications skills, and team leadership have been called on to rescue and successfully deliver previously faltering projects.
Simon and his wife enjoy many outdoors activities and keeping fit. They are keen on triathlon, duathlon, kayaking, and hiking, but they are extremely passionate about skydiving. They are accomplished, competitive skydivers, skydiving coaches and instructors. Simon has won numerous medals, participated in national and world records events, and he was a UK National Champion in 2012. As an internationally recognised skydiving coach, Simon has trained teams from different countries, and he was featured in the National Skydiving Championships documentary. He is also a scuba diver, and he has achieved a Master and Rescue Diver qualification.
Simon has hosted and chaired a number of regional technical conferences on behalf of IQPC in both Qatar and theUAE being a guest speaker, event host and panel moderator. Simon has had articles published in the Abu Dhabi British Business Group’s quarterly publication most recently on Health & Wellbeing in the Office. Simon holds a B.Sc. (Hon.) in Building Services Engineering, Uptitime Accredited Tier Designer (ATD), holds number data centre specific qualifications. and he is a certified LEED GA. He is also a Member of The Institution of Engineering and Technology (MIET), and a member of the US Green Building Council.
