The 2,500 sq m Samba Data Centre was a new installation in an existing bank building in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, constructed in response to a country-wide regulation that the banking industry data centres meet high-level Uptime Institute tier certification requirements.

Working under IT specialists CitiHub, our engineers designed a Tier III centre, which required one active and one alternative data system, providing close to 100% availability.

This entailed two power and two cooling systems, no water in the space and the location of specific racks in specific locations. The active and standby power and cooling systems were each from different sources, with direct expansion (DX) chillers using indoor and outdoor condensers.
