WME worked on the building services engineering for The Springs Mall, part of Emaar’s Springs Village development in Dubai. The design & build project was value engineered to ensure completion by April 2018.

The mall provides two levels of retail space in a linear configuration, and is an upgrade of an existing shopping precinct. Tenants include retail outlets, cafes, supermarkets, an entertainment centre and a clinic, supported by facilities such as public toilets, electrical and mechanical plant rooms, telecoms and mobile telephony installations, a fire command centre, spaces for security services and waste handling systems.

Among many challenges, a key one was the amount of power supply needed for the project. This led to a close interrogation of the cooling loads and adjustments to Emaar’s retail tenancy guidelines in order to eliminate the need for the construction of a new substation.
