Emaar’s first residential project for the Opera District cultural hub it is developing in the Downtown area of Dubai, is the 64-storey Opera Grand tower.
Following WME’s success in reducing the structure required to achieve Emaar’s Address Residence hotel at Fountain Views, we were appointed as structural, building services, fire, acoustic and vertical transport engineers for the new project, which completed in 2018.
The structural solution uses piles already in place from an earlier scheme. However, the podium configuration is revised and new wind speed and seismic design regulations need to be accommodated.
The tower sits above four levels of basement parking, a two-storey podium for food and beverage outlets, and a landscaped area for residents and public use. The basements are connected to Emaar’s new underground tunnel access system.
