Appointed for our innovative solution to the structural engineering of ten residential towers in Mumbai — over three other competing international engineering practices — WME is delivering an optimised design that minimises construction materials and the project’s floor space index (FSI) for client Oberoi Realty.

Oberoi Sky City Borivali will occupy a site of over 10 hectares near the Western Express Highway in Borivali East, in the northern area of Mumbai. Its eight high-rise structures average 66 storeys each, above a shared ten-storey parking podium that includes three basement levels. The towers will accommodate over 3,000 apartments.

The structural design is based on the use of ductile reinforced concrete shear walls as a response to the local seismic conditions, and to the wind forces expected. A construction methodology that takes advantage of the opportunities for using repetition has been developed that should enable a high standard of workmanship as well as cost savings through re-use of formwork.
