Meet Murali Guruvappan

Like many of the engineers at WME, Murali has worked on a wide range of projects around the world. He is an associate director with the company, responsible for the delivery as lead structural engineer of complex, often mixed-use, developments.

Murali Guruvappan graduated from the University of Madras with a degree in civil engineering, followed by post graduate studies in structural engineering at Anna University, Chennai. He worked as an engineer in India before moving to the Middle East in 2005, where he joined a global practice with its roots in the UK. With them, he gained experience in high-rise stability analysis and design.

By 2007, Murali had moved to the UK and changed firms — and the projects were growing in size, along with the level of responsibility. He worked on the stability of tall residential towers, on the project delivery of a large shopping mall in Cairo, and as principal structural engineer of a large hospital in the UK.

“Structural engineering is vital to life-safety, sustainability and performance for all man-made structures in the built environment. I am really proud to be part of that.”

Back in the UAE, Murali joined the structural team at WME in 2013. He is clear about his ambitions:

“I would like to continue to be in the midst of Dubai’s inspiring tall buildings and visionary clients … and also following passion and innovation in structural engineering.”
