The Kaaki development in Mekkah consists of a 3-star hotel intended for pilgrim tourism use, spread across 14 blocks on a single site. WME is working on the building services design for the project, which will deliver approximately 12,000 hotel rooms.

The project is very large and our client is naturally focused on keeping control of costs. We undertook thorough cost reviews during the options assessment phase, presenting these together with operating costs to ensure appropriate system selection. The developer has grouped the projects’s buildings into ‘packages’ to enable smooth transitions to private ownership should that be required.

Building information modelling (BIM) is also being used to deliver the project.
