WME provided structural and building services engineering design for a new 2,400 pupil secondary school in Al Ain that features a high level of sustainability.

The school’s two storey concrete frame is supported on a raft foundation and occupies only 40% of the large site. Plant, electricity substation and water chillers are located centrally at the rear of the complex.

The design meets Estidama Pearl 2 standard. Sustainable initiatives include below-ground storm water retention tanks for the irrigation of playing fields and landscaping, solar panels for the canteen hot water supply and freestanding shading structures.

Tight deadlines required fast track delivery and we provided supervision during construction.
